College is becoming less important in the 21st Century but a college degree is still important. In today’s fast moving society we create and discard new products and innovations in short periods of time. It is difficult for colleges to keep up with pace of the changes. College degrees have become sorting mechanisms, to eliminate prospective workers, just as the SAT’s were once all important in determining college admissions even though their predictability of success was questionable.
If this is true then why do our leaders tell us that we may become a second rate country if we don’t go the college and why spend so much time and money. And…what is the alternative?
